Job Description :
Under the supervision of the Assistant IT Director – Business Applications, the position is to design, develop, document, test and support ORA web-centric, object-oriented applications. Use software technologies such as ASP, C#, VB, VBScript, JavaScript, COM, ASP.NET, VB.NET, SQL reports, SQL Server and Web services to develop software applications to assist ORA business processes. Participate in all phases of the development life cycle in accordance with application specifications and business requirements. Interact with other campus user groups and departments to design and develop specifications. Accept various responsibilities and demonstrate skills in all areas of Web and database technologies, such as application design and development, database development and administration, system administration, as well as provide testing, technical documentation, and production support. Provide database administration for ORA databases. Provide assistance for server administration and server security. Participate in relevant classes or seminars to increase technical knowledge. Stay abreast of technical advances, particularly in the area of software development and security.

Required/Preferred

BS in computer science or an equivalent degree preferred.

Preferred

Knowledge in ORA computing environment and working experience in UCLA research administration.

Preferred

Demonstrated experience in designing, developing and deploying enterprise-wide Web applications using ASP, COM, XML, .NET technologies, llS web server, Windows server.

Required

Demonstrated skill in writing code that meets user specifications and is easily maintainable, well documented, and completed by scheduled deadlines.

Required

Knowledge of object-oriented design as well as experience with relational database design and development.

Demonstrated experience in Microsoft SQL Server and proficiency in database administration and writing stored procedures and triggers.

Working knowledge of web hardware and software including Windows server, llS server, HTML, CSS, FTP, scripts, and graphics.

Demonstrated strong testing and debugging skills to insure a reliable application.

Demonstrated ability to create software designs that use standard methods, are technically sound, have strong controls (security and audit), and will result in maintainable and understandable software.

Knowledge of programming languages such as C#, Java, JavaScript, HTML, VB, VBScript, ASP, .NET, XML.

Knowledge of development tools such as Dreamweaver, Visual Studio, Visual SourceSafe.

Demonstrated knowledge of standard microcomputer languages, software, and systems such as MS Windows, MS Windows Server, MS SQL Server, and MS Office.

Knowledge of local area networks, microcomputer hardware, operating system software, and office software.

Knowledge of standard security practices and procedures for programming, authentication, encryption, server configuration, and network configuration.
