The UCLA Technology Development Group serves as a campus-wide gateway to Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship. Our mission is to promote UCLA innovation, research, teaching and entrepreneurship to benefit society; create economic value to support UCLA’s scholarly and educational missions and the State of California; and lead UCLA’s research community to bring innovation to market.

Under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Contracts, the Contracts Manager is responsible for critical agreement management functions in support of invention disclosures and licenses for inventions. These functions include completing agreements based on templates, analysis of rights being licensed, compliance review of pre-executed agreements, agreement execution, post-executed agreement analysis, and database entry. This role is integral to the primary operation of the UCLA Technology Development Group. An excellent candidate for this role is one who is interested in learning more about contract law, patent licensing, or contract legal administration.

8:00 am

5:00 pm

Qualifications for Position




Excellent written and verbal English communication skills to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and faculty.


Proven ability to compose concise, logical and grammatically correct oral and written communications.


Ability to gather information necessary for resolving questions and solving problems.


Skill to accurately proofread and format correspondence, reports and other materials. Ability to check accuracy of facts and substance of written material, including technical documents.


Excellent and demonstrated attention to detail related to reporting.


Demonstrated ability to analyze data, identifies issues, and propose resolutions.


Working knowledge of Patent Tracking System (PTS) or Inteum (Minuet).

Can be trained

Demonstrated skill in working in a highly sensitive area requiring ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.


Ability to work independently as well as work effectively in a group.


Skill in working with frequent interruptions and competing priorities. Ability to work effectively under pressure of deadlines and maintain a high level of productivity.


Demonstrated ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented environment to follow through on assignments with minimal direction and to independently prioritize work.


Demonstrated computer skills for work processing, email, and use of internet based databases, including Microsoft Office.


Strong organizational, administrative, and problem solving skills. Detail oriented.
