Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Food Service Ambassador in the Patient Room Service Department, you will assist patients in ordering meals, prepare patient food trays and deliver meals to patients’ rooms. You will act as a contact between the Food & Nutrition Department, the patient and the nursing units.
You will assist patients in completing meal orders and answer questions
You will read patient meal tickets and prepare patient meal trays based on specific diet orders
You will ensure the right food, portions and garnishes are placed on every tray
You will deliver patient food trays on time and at proper temperatures to patient rooms
You will collect food trays and completed meals from patients’ rooms
Throughout food service, you will serve meals to patients in a professional, efficient manner, always showing great customer service
What qualifications you will need:
Experience
At least 6 months of healthcare food service experience
1 year of experience working in food service in a healthcare environments – preferred
Education
High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
Associates degree – preferred
License and Certifications
Current ServSafe Food Handler Permit, Travis/Williamsons County Health Department

This 300+ bed facility features a 24-hour emergency department, the region’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and the internationally-renowned Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute and St. David’s Neuroscience & Spine Institute. The full scope of services provided at St. David’s Medical Center includes cancer care, heart and vascular care, imaging services, joint replacement and orthopedics, women’s services, complex surgical services, and a Bariatric Surgery Center. The facility is home to a 60+ bed rehabilitation hospital providing both inpatient and outpatient comprehensive care.
