We are currently looking for a motivated, PART-TIME, Sorting Equipment Cleaner, who possesses machinery cleaning skills when it comes to cleaning conveyor belts and equipment for our fast-paced, progressive recycling company. We call this position our “Judo Janitor” as this position will take special abilities and require exceptional maneuvering to crawl into small and tight fitting spaces to tackle the job of cleaning our MRF Conveyor Belt System.
SORTING EQUIPMENT CLEANER/ AKA… JUDO JANITOR
This is a PART-TIME POSITION – Approximately 21 hours a week; Mon – Fri (from 2:30 pm to 5:30 / 6:00 pm,) and Saturday (6:00 am to Noon)
RESPONSIBILITIES:

a deep thorough cleaning of recycling conveyor belts and large, heavy equipment while climbing ladder, bending, twisting, squatting, stooping and/ or crawling as necessary to accomplish custodial task – this is not a sanitization process however a deep thorough cleaning;
waste removal, collecting debris from plant areas and transporting to dumpsters;
walking on elevated platforms and climbing in and out of machinery, and up on to, heavy machine equipment;
Will be required to work in and around “rotating equipment” at times;
Work involves pulling and pushing, carrying weight up to 60 pounds, twisting, bending and reaching from floor to waist height and from waist to above head;
Rigorous, repetitive, monotonous and demanding physical activity;
Make adjustments to machine as necessary and observe to detect any malfunctions;
Clear away any debris, recycling, waste, card board, ropes, etc., from conveyor belt and heavy machinery;
Wipe down, scrub, scour, deep cleansing of machinery;
Keep work area clean following day of production;
Required to use hand tools such as shovels, picks, wheelbarrows, squeegees, and brooms, etc.;
Ability to be multi-diversified in performing other related duties such as maintenance/repair, and yard loading when needed;
Some outside work may be assigned;
Notifying management of need for repairs of any equipment;
Work in a safe and accident free-manner by wearing and keeping in good condition all required safety equipment and PPE’s;
Recognize potentially hazardous situations;
Regular attendance and punctuality are essential;
Meet or exceed company safety standards; and
Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of equipment;
Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment;
Experience cleaning heavy equipment is desired but not necessary;
Able to understand, interpret, and execute instructions given in both verbal and written form;
Resourceful and can read between the lines and figure stuff out in a pinch;
Ability to climb ladder, bend, twist, squat, stoop or crawl as necessary to accomplish custodial duties;
Adheres to all plant safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures;
LOVES improving systems and making things better;
Has a proven track record self-management and completing tasks thoroughly and timely;
Has an obsessive knack for those little details to help ensure things don’t slip through the cracks;
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards;
Ability to work unsupervised and under pressure;
Ability to work harmoniously, cooperatively and independently as a team player;
Able to follow instructions and complete required training;
Can pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol/marijuana screening, background verification and a physical abilities test; and
Authorized to work in the U.S.A.
