Education & Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management or a related field (or equivalent years of experience)
SHRM or CEBS certification preferred
5 years of experience in benefits administration
3 years of experience in leave of absence administration
3 years of vendor management experience, preferably with benefits and leave administration
3 years supporting employee requests and escalations related to benefits, pay, and time away
2 years of experience with Canadian benefits and/or leaves of absence preferred
Knowledge and Skills
Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills – organized and thorough, capable of moving quickly, managing several projects at the same time, and meeting deadlines
Strong written, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills, including ability to establish credibility and trust with management/leadership and handle difficult situations with diplomacy and professionalism
Strong customer service skills, ability explain complex concepts to non-technical audiences, and help employees maximize their benefits
Ability to think analytically and resourcefully to quickly identify potential problems and areas of improvement and identify and implement solutions
Working knowledge of the regulations governing STD, LTD, FMLA, ADAA, ACA, state disability and leave laws
Comfortable and effective working independently within a geographically dispersed team
Strong computer skills, including data entry, data processing, communication tools and payroll systems
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including OneNote and SharePoint preferred
Experience with Workday and Workday leave configuration preferred
Knowledge of benefits administration vendor systems and processes preferred
Administer US and Canadian time-away programs (leaves of absence, disability, sick time, vacation), focusing on employee experience and company policy
Advise employees, employee’s family members, managers and HR Professionals on leave policies and processes
Partner with external vendors, measure their performance and look for opportunities to improve overall vendor effectiveness, continuously review existing processes with a goal towards improved efficiency and accuracy
Work closely with our benefits administration provider, business units, internal IT and payroll group to effectively manage multiple, complex projects and deadlines
Assist with the annual enrollment project deliverables, including supporting in-person and virtual benefits fairs, systems review and testing, employee questions, etc.
Utilize Workday and other databases to produce detailed analyses and reports around plan data, employee participation, eligibility criteria and other metrics
Coach/mentor junior team members
Other duties as assigned
