Job Description :
The Senior Fund Manager Supervisor is responsible for the financial services of all operational and sponsored research activity for approximately 27 Principal Investigators (PIs) in the Physiology Group, which includes the Department of Integrative Biology and Physiology (IBP); Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Center; Undergraduate Neuroscience IDP (uNSIDP); and Molecular, Cellular & Integrative Physiology IDP (MCIP) in the Life Sciences Division. This position has a leadership role in development of departmental policies for fund management and C&G administration, ensuring that unit goals are met. Includes responsibility for review and authorization of pre-award proposals; preparation of monthly analyses and reporting of account activity and budget, including prior periods and future projections; interpretation and explanation of University and extramural funding agency accounting procedures and requirements for PIs; and solving any unusual or challenging problems. The incumbent is also responsible for the financial management of the departmental operating budgets, including multi-period planning for permanent and temporary funds from multiple state and university sources under its auspices.

Supervision, training, and supporting the work of five other team members to ensure the financial integrity of the accounts administered.

Act as departmental liaison to other key university administrative units to coordinate these actions (Office of Contract and Grant Administration, Extramural Fund Management, Accounting, etc.). The Senior Fund Manager Supervisor skillfully utilizes QDB and front-end tools for collection of financial information used in preparation of periodic and ad hoc reports for PI’s, Chairs, and the CAO.

1. Possess excellent mathematical, financial/business and analytical skills with the ability to formulate clear and concise budgets, financial spreadsheets, and reports useful for planning and decision-making.

2. Demonstrated skill in managing funds from multiple sources.

3. Demonstrated skills in reading and interpreting technical documents, such as agency policies, statements, manuals, award documents and other materials related to sponsored research awards including contracts, grants, and subcontracts.

4. Ability to effectively communicate complex financial and administrative information to a diverse clientele, including PIs, Chairs, CAO, and Dean.

5. Demonstrated working knowledge of federal and state contract and grant policies and procedures, including proposal preparation requirements for life science disciplines.

6. Skill in using the online BruinBuy and Concur and other Accounts Payable (PAC) systems.

7. Knowledge of accepted procurement practices. Ability to negotiate successfully with vendors.
