Division Specific Information
Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Rapid Diagnostics Solutions business is located in San Diego’s Sorrento Valley area and manufactures the Accula System for the detection of infectious diseases, including SARS-CoV-2 virus (the virus responsible for COVID-19), providing rapid PCR-based in vitro diagnostic testing now being used in patient care settings.

How will you make an impact?
Reporting to Senior Manager, Product Management, the Associate Product Manager (APM) at Thermo Fisher Scientific works directly with customers and the product development team to understand the existing and future needs of the marketplace, and uses that knowledge to support the design & development of the product portfolio throughout the life cycle, fiscal planning for future products, growth, marketing materials and customer focused evolution of product roadmaps. This includes collecting and analyzing market research data, historical sales, and collaborating with other divisions to leverage market intelligence for related products.

With limited guidance, the APM provides support to new product introductions (NPI) and sustaining on-market activity for the Rapid Diagnostics Solutions (RDS) business unit. The APM manages the development, revision, preparation and internal approval of packaging artworks e.g., carton, container label, instructions for use, for assigned development products as well as marketed products. Working knowledge of point-of-care / IVD industry trends related to packaging and labeling content and implementation are preferred.

What will you do?

Support the definition and development of the POC portfolio 5-year strategy with extensive market segmentation, channel distribution, competitive differentiation, product positioning, and customer insight
Drive pre-market development, voice of customer, market access preparation, education/interpretation training programs, marketing collateral, and key promotional activities
Provide functional knowledge at relevant department meetings and relevant cross functional teams.
Collaborates with packaging team to ensure packaging content and artworks are follows internal labeling policies, standard operating procedures and worldwide health authority regulations.
Maintain and supervise packaging artwork lifecycle and documents in appropriate labeling repository and electronic systems.
Works closely with regulatory to supervise the worldwide regulation changes pertaining to labeling regulations and assist in the maintenance of the labeling SOP and work instructions.
Efficiently manages change assessments, gap assessments as needed for IFU/labeling release.
Owns and drives SKU readiness / preparedness.
Assists in creation of Unique Device Identification (UDI) as needed.
Demonstrates the ability to contribute to the development of department strategy, operational objectives, and matters of significance.
Ability to contribute to resolving issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles or situations with minimal precedent.
Collaborate with team members to develop innovative business solutions.
Participates in new product development teams, develops customer & product requirements, customer communications, and competitive strategy
Life Cycle Management – supports product data management, development, and implementation of product life cycle plan including price and discontinuations to ensure seamless customer experience.
Assists in the creation of compelling value propositions that match our core business strengths to market needs. Co-creates with Market Development messaging to stimulate demand and increase customer loyalty.
Monitors competitive dynamics and assists in portfolio performance reviews.
Conducts market research to identify industry trends and customer requirements. Partner with Market Development to use regionally specific voice of customer insights to contribute to development of campaigns and marketing programs that address identified opportunities.
Identifies opportunities for increasing customer and business value through product differentiation
With limited supervisor support, proactively share information with peers and generate discussion to resolve complex issues.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skill.

How will you get here?

Bachelor’s degree (Marketing, Business, or Biology preferred)
Minimum of 3+ years of applicable experience in a regulated industry (IVD and/or point-of-care is plus)
Understanding molecular biology and/or PCR is a plus
Knowledge of US and International medical device labeling standards is preferred
Familiarity with document or content management systems concepts a plus
Experience with data analysis and market intel is preferred
