Seeking Part-Time Lab Coordinator
University of Southern California
Department of Psychology
Dr. Chardée Galán is looking for a part-time Lab Coordinator to provide research-related supervision and oversight of the activities of her lab. Applicants should have related research experience and interest in reducing mental health disparities, understanding interpersonal and racial trauma among racial-ethnic minority youth and families (e.g., Black, Latino/a/x), and/or culturally adapting evidence-based treatments. This position will begin mid-August 2022 with the possibility for continuing into Spring 2023 and beyond, based on performance and grant funding.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Project Management:
Helping with administrative tasks
Coordinating Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions
Completing new submissions
Making amendments to protocol templates
Submitting continuing review forms
Coordinating data collection, including participant recruitment, screening, assessments, and participant payment
Conducting literature reviews and compiling references for manuscript publication, conference presentations, and grant submissions
Managing undergraduate research assistants
Assisting with other administrative tasks
Facilitating and maintaining community partnerships
Identifying community organizations to establish partnerships
Working with community partners to organize outreach events including panel events, town halls, etc.
Requirements for the lab coordinator position:
Excellent writing skills, organization skills, and careful attention to detail
Advanced technical skills e.g., Canva, Captivate, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word.
Ability to take on leadership for assigned work related tasks, both independently and as part of a team
Coursework in quantitative, qualitative mixed and/or advanced research methods
Ability to manage one’s time and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner
Ability to work successfully under strict deadlines, and accommodate change
Understand and follow policies and procedures, including handling confidential materials with discretion
While not required, the ideal candidate for this position will have an interest in and commitment to understanding interpersonal and racial trauma and mental health in Black and Latino communities
Experience with Zotero, Qualtrics, and RedCap is preferred
Grant writing experience and knowledge of grant submission process is very helpful is also preferred
Pay rate: $23.21 per hour – this position is funded on grants.
Timeline: Interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis. Priority will be given to candidates who apply by August 7th. The candidate can expect to start on August 15, 2022.
