The position of Instructional Intervention Teacher is under the supervision of the school site principal, and will implement the school site Intervention Program to effectively meet the academic and behavioral needs of the students designated to this program. Morning and afternoon part-time postions available at various sites.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with the implementation of a three-tiered model of instruction and intervention and provides support for low-achieving students, including socio-economically disadvantaged students, English learners, and foster youth.
Works with children in large groups, small groups, or individually to provide specific, targeted instruction based on assessments and the academic needs of the students.
As part of the school intervention team, assesses students, provides intervention, monitors progress, analyzes data and keeps accurate records.
Helps children develop a motivation and appropriate behavior for learning and success.
Prepares appropriate materials and instructional resources for individualized and group instruction.
Demonstrates teaching methods and techniques, serving as a resource to site staff.
Disseminates current reading and/or math research relevant to the goals of the school and program.
Participates in the school Professional Learning Community.
Confers with children, parents, teachers, and specialized personnel as needed.
Participates in District, county and state meetings and trainings as directed by the site administration.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
SALARY AND TERMS OF SERVICE:
Salary will be according to the teacher’s placement on the Certificated Salary Schedule. Work to coincide with regular teacher’s calendar.
Prepaid family dental, medical, and vision insurance plans are prorated according to the number of hours worked. Prepaid life insurance plan for employee only, prorated according to number of hours worked.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
California Multiple Subject or Single Subject ELA Teaching Credential with CLAD/CTEL authorization. Bachelor’s degree, including all courses needed to meet credential requirements.
Must have current knowledge of frameworks, Common Core State Standards, age-appropriate, research-based curriculum, effective instructional strategies, and classroom technologies.
Strong understanding of reading development, mathematical concepts, classroom management techniques, and the needs of socio-economically disadvantaged students, English learners, and foster youth.
Knowledge of the District’s curriculum, assessment and instructional program.
Evidence demonstrating classroom instruction success with students in English/Language Arts, English Language Development, and/or Mathematics.
Demonstrates understanding of the intervention models and Professional Learning Communities.
Professional appearance and demeanor which establish a desirable model for pupils. Ability to meet District standards for physical and mental health. Better than average recommendations from supervisors or other professionals who have observed the personal characteristics, scholastic attainment and performance of the individual.
SELECTION PROCESS
