Heart of Brooklyn Veterinary Hospital is a multi-site Wellness Center and General Practice in gorgeous North Brooklyn, NYC. We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Practice Manager to join our growing Leadership Team. Candidates with experience leading a veterinary team are preferred, however we are willing to train the right fit who adds well to our dynamic culture. The Practice Manager (PM) is primarily responsible for team leadership, business management, and day-to-day operational oversight, the latter aided by an excellent team of shift supervisors, and reports directly to the Practice Administrator. Candidates with strong budgetary and financial experience as well as compassionate and dynamic team leadership will be prioritized. Our team is an incredible group of professionals and support staff with shared values and dynamic experience in background. We are looking for someone who will act as coach, mentor, and support folks in their growth and wellness.
Roles and Responsibilities

Team leadership for 5 veterinarians (and growing!) and 25+ support staff with a focus on professional development and personal and occupational wellness

Budget management in accordance with the Well-Managed Practice Benchmark

Talent acquisition and retention including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, training (with weekly check-ins during first two months), corrective actions, and offboarding

HR management including payroll, staff scheduling, and worker’s compensation and benefits administration

Individual growth promotion including routine team meetings, one-on-ones, training and development (virtual, onsite, and offsite) and a biannual peer-review and performance evaluation

Practice growth promotion and Change Leadership including creating, building mutual support for, implementing, and championing new initiatives and platforms in a comfortable timeline

Marketing oversight including working with our web and ads team to create, update, and track the success of online ads, website traffic, and social media engagement

Inventory control and oversight of inventory manager to keep COGS lean, properly tracked, and prevent over-stocking or shrinkage

Financial review and tracking using dashboards and tools provided by our accounting team

Tech infrastructure management including online practice management software (Vetter), client engagement platform (AllyDVM), and other client/team resources

Review of SOPs and protocols on a quarterly basis alongside Medical Director, Practice Administrator, and Practice Owner to ensure the highest level of medical and nursing quality

The Right Fit Would Look Something Like

3+ years experience in veterinary medicine

1+ years experience in a manager or supervisory role

Experience in a Fear Free or non-aversive patient care setting

Bachelor’s degree or CVPM a plus

Strong emotional intelligence and communication skills (Crucial Conversations or Mindful Compassionate Dialogue training a +++)

Strong organizational and planning skills

A progressive approach to team leadership and mentorship

An eye for budgeting and finances

Ability to set and model healthy boundaries and expectations for staff, clients, and self

The occasional flexibility to troubleshoot urgent needs outside of normal business hours
