Provide administrative support to the Administrative Manager, the Director of Undergraduate Studies (DUS) and the Undergraduate program including course scheduling, room scheduling, grades, student communications, and maintaining student information. Be the departmental expert on course management systems. In cooperation with the Graduate Field Coordinator, provide administrative, planning, and operational support for the Africana Studies & Research Center. Coordinate purchasing and financial accounting for the department to include bill paying, Pcards, purchasing, travel reimbursements, and account reconciliation. Provide guidance to department on best practices for financial transactions and be department contact for Business Service Center. Act as building coordinator. Assist groups with building reservations and maintain calendar for building use. Responsible for providing excellent customer service which includes anticipating the needs of the students, faculty, administrative manager and director and providing accurate and timely responses. Recommend creative solutions to problems and maintain up to date procedures and work flows in compliance with university policies and procedures. Develop and maintain excellent working relationships throughout the University and with off-campus entities. Create and maintain databases as needed in support of the above functions. Work closely with administrative manager and participate in special projects as needed.

Required Qualifications: Associates degree; 2-4 years’ relevant experience. Must be detail oriented and able to work under pressure while balancing multiple tasks. Capable of setting priorities, following through on projects, and meeting deadlines. Strong, effective computer skills are necessary. Ability to develop effective working relationships with multiple stakeholders. Must be service oriented with effective interpersonal skills and outstanding written/verbal communication skills. Self-motivated and proactive with strong organizational skills. Able to work as part of a team as well as independently. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot, adapt and make recommendations for change. Position requires initiative supported by a strong work ethic. Experience with, or ability to learn, database management.

Starting Pay Range: $24.66 – $27.91
