OTHER: *Posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of statutory hiring rate ($49,202) and Mid-Hudson Adjustment ($1,513). The Mid-Hudson Adjustment ($1,513) is also added to job rate ($62,806).
The Physical Therapy Assistant 2 (PTA2) will play a vital role in the Taconic DDSOO Article 16 Clinic, meeting a critical need for physical therapy treatment services for the region’s ID/DD population. Under the supervision of a Licensed Physical Therapist, the Physical Therapy Assistant 2 (PTA 2) will provide a variety of physical therapy support and treatment services to our individuals.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties could include but are not limited to:
· Implement and execute established patient treatment plans and the use of assistive devices,
· Teaching patients exercises for mobility, strength, balance, and gait coordination directed at restoring specific body and ambulation functions.
· Observe and report upon individuals’ progress, responses, and behaviors, and may recommend modifications to clinical treatment plans based on their observations.
· Communicate with referring physicians, nurses, service coordinators and other members of the individual’s team.
· Maintain treatment records and documentation in accordance with program standards and requirements.
· Assemble, clean, and maintain physical therapy equipment for individuals’ use.
· May coordinate physical therapy activities with other health care providers as necessary; monitor supply inventories.
· Schedule individual appointments and procedures.
· Other duties may be assigned as deemed appropriate within the title.
NOTE: Travel within the five-county catchment area will be required in the performance of the duties of the position. This may include use of a state-owned vehicle, as available, or the employee’s own car. An employee who uses his/her own car will be reimbursed at current negotiated rates.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must be reachable for appointment from the current Civil Service eligible list
Transfer Opportunity: Candidates must have one year of permanent service as a Physical Therapy Assistant or in a title deemed appropriate for transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law within two salary grades of the Grade 18 level.
Temporary Appointment:
For appointment to the position of Physical Therapy Assistant 2, the candidate must be licensed and currently registered to practice as a Physical Therapy Assistant in New York State AND have two years of post-certification physical therapy experience.
Promotion: One year of service as a Physical Therapy Assistant, and possession of a license and current registration as a Physical Therapy Assistant in New York State.
Open Competitive: Possession of a license and current registration as a Physical Therapy Assistant in New York State and one year of post-licensure experience.
Physical Therapy Assistant 2 (PTA2) is a continuous recruitment examination. Candidates who are not on the eligible list may apply for this position and, if appointed, will receive a temporary appointment.
