As the Vice President of Engineering you’re accountable for confidently defining processes and allocating resources to deliver products effectively. You’ll be successfully delivering measurable business outcomes as a result of our engineering function. You’ll be scaling, attracting, and retaining high performing teams. You can confidently represent our engineering function externally to the broader industry, talent market, investors, and external partners.

What we’re looking for:

Prior experience as:

Vice President of Engineering and/or Head of Engineering at a high-growth series D-F startup.
Director or Senior Director at a larger tech company with software development best practices.

First hand experience scaling an engineering department by 50 – 100+ engineers where individuals would follow them to the next opportunity.
Successful track record of being a high performer and delivering impactful business outcomes.
A strong experimenter: Has shipped code with different development processes and has examples of things that have failed but they’ll try again.
Effectively manages resourcing decisions and trade-offs such as: build vs buy, local vs international teams, fte vs contractors, and knowing when to invest in support functions (e.g QA , platform, devops).

Compensation Range:
$220,000+ TBD
Axle believes in providing pay transparency to all candidates. For annual compensation, our pay ranges for all roles are based on geographic location, job responsibilities and experience, benchmarked against similar stage companies in our industry. We share salary ranges on all job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Every final offer presented is determined by several components including location as well as candidate experience and skills, and could alter from the amounts listed above.
