The Quality Scientist II is accountable for support of the continued development, improvement and implementation of projects by performing various tests. This position actively participates in quality guidance and helps project teams and operations for process improvement and continuous improvement activities.
This person will conduct experiments, collect data and play an active role in the process to ensure products meet quality standards consistent with both Corporate and Unit policies while meeting all design control and other quality and regulatory requirements

Job Responsibilities:

Consistent application of Quality system standards to multiple Quality system areas
Develops solutions to routine assigned activities of moderate scope & complexity.
Follows applicable Company / Unit procedures and may create or make updates to procedures and policies.
Working Knowledge of Quality Systems Regulatory requirements and application to Company /Unit requirements.
Develops training content and provides quality related training at plant location
Participates in FDA, ISO, and other external and internal audits. Ensures that pre and post-inspection activities are completed including scheduling, record review, training, logistics, etc.
Performs QA release laboratory activities including: set-up operations and maintenance of laboratory instruments
Performs experiments, makes observations, calculates and records results, analyzes data and often develops conclusions under general supervision following SOPs and special test designs
Performs equipment maintenance, understands lab safety and hazardous waste management Performs qualitative and quantitative analysis of raw materials and finished goods
Investigates testing anomalies and customer complaints.
Cleans and maintains laboratory areas and equipment according to procedures
Supports calibration and maintenance program
Assist with Management Review content development
Supports quality system improvement and standardization initiatives within site
May perform other duties as required

Education and Experience:

Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or other relevant field and 2 years relevant experience or a combination of equivalent education and relevant experience
Prior experience within a regulated industry laboratory (e.g., medical device, pharma, Automotive, Aerospace) is required

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of the FDA medical device quality system regulations and international quality system standards/regulations (e.g. – 21 CFR Part 820, ISO 13485, ISO 14971) as it relates to the design and continued support of BD products
Extensive knowledge of applicable Corporate and/or Unit requirements.
Strong communication skills. Ability to communicate clearly and efficiently during difficult situations
Ability to work in a team environment and work through others
Strong analytical & problem-solving skills. Ability to lead teams through problem solving process.
Experience with Trackwise and SAP
Limited / Basic application of technical principles, theories, concepts, techniques and quality sciences / tools such as:
acceptance sampling theory and application,
statistical process control methods and application,
Measurement system analysis,
quality planning,
process mapping and value stream analysis,
descriptive statistics,
process capability analysis, and
basic quality tools: pareto, box plots, histograms, scatter diagrams, etc., risk management, supplier quality management, auditing, design / development tools, process validation, software validation, etc.
Excellent communication skills at all levels both written and verbal.
Ability to set and deliver to specific goals and targets.
Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize work load.
Self-motivated /directed.
