IEP COORDINATOR FOR PRESCHOOL 3-5 YRS OLD BROOKLYN, NY
Position Overview: The IEP Coordinator reports directly to the Program Director and works in conjunction with the agency’s administrative team and operations staff to ensure the efficient operation of the school. Working with the Program Director, the IEP Coordinator works to insure the proper delivery of all educational services in the various program and service models operated by the agency (Special Class, Special Class in an Integrated Setting, Multi-Disciplinary Evaluations, Pre-K For All, etc.). The IEP Coordinator provides professional guidance for the agency’s teachers, assistant teachers, 1:1 paraprofessionals, etc. The IEP Coordinator engages in a broad range of activities which support and promote overall programmatic quality, compliance and efficiency.
Requirement: NYS SAS or SDA Certification
Skills Required for IEP Coordinator:

Demonstrated proficiency in building relationships and working collaboratively with school staff and the agency’s administrative team to improve staff and student outcomes;
Dedication to compliance and a model of continuous improvement for the services provided by the agency and the performance of individuals working for the agency;
Evidence of critical thinking and problem solving skills with the proven ability to analyze issues, design a course of action and implement plans for improvement which further the mission of the agency;
Exceptional leadership skills including the ability to motivate and direct a team of seasoned educational professionals;
Proven organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and objectives;
Documented skill in communicating with various populations, i.e., staff, families, CPSE’s, etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Work collaboratively with CPSE’s to maintain programming in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, contractual provisions and all applicable external directives/guidance as well as this agency’s own policies and procedures;
2. Be knowledgeable regarding current theory and best practices in both special education and early childhood education and utilizing this knowledge as a resource for the continuous professional development of educational staff members;
3. Organize and conduct orientation training, refresher training and professional development activities tailored to the needs of staff members in relation to IEP execution and the requirements and expectations of the various entities overseeing the agency’s programs and services including PreK for All and special education;
4. Work with Program Director and others to maintain proper staffing levels in the event of staff absences or vacancies; In the absence of the program director order substitute staff as needed.
5. Encourage the involvement and participation of parents, guardians and families;
6. Work to resolve matters of concern raised by parents, staff or others;
7. Act as a communication conduit between educational personnel, the Program Director and agency leadership;
8. As necessary, observe children being evaluated and/or enrolled students to facilitate sound educational and programming decision making;
9. Assist in ordering and maintaining curriculum resources and assessment instruments;
10. Determine due dates for the various obligations of the educational staff, communicate that information to the staff and track their timely compliance;
11. Insure that educational staff members are informed as to their responsibilities in implementing the IEP of each student with a disability prior to the implementation of each IEP;
12. Review various documentation authored by educational professionals for accuracy, completeness and professionalism, including:
o Annual, initial and requested review packages
o Draft IEPs
o Quarterly progress reports
o Individual IEP goals included lesson plans
o Pre-K for All teacher reports and records
o Review TSG accounts during designated checkpoint periods
o Set up and review Google classrooms
o Maintain student shortcuts program/RSNet
o Other communication and documentation related to the agency’s students and service provision
13. Organize and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings/case conferences to: review student progress; respond to concerns regarding student behavior and/or performance; develop or monitor behavioral plans; prepare for CPSE and CSE reviews;
14. Check student attendance weekly
15. Insure that teachers participate in CPSE/CSE reviews;
16. Conduct program visits for potential students and their families;
17. Meet and work collaboratively with representatives of outside agencies including the NYC Department of Education (CPSE. 4410 Oversight and Pre-K for All), Department of Health and the NYS Education Department;
18. Perform any and all other such duties as may be deemed necessary for the safe, compliant, efficient and effective operation of the agency.
