New Directions Alcohol and Substance Abuse Outpatient located in Brooklyn New York is now seeking a Community Outreach Coordinator to add to our team of seasoned professionals.
POSITION SUMMARY: New Directions’ Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for developing and conducting outreach for all boroughs in order to raise awareness about New Directions’ outpatient services in the professional and general communities and to make community members aware of our services. The Outreach Coordinator will meet with relevant health care, medical, and mental health staff and organizations, local clergy, community organizations, and other community stakeholders including the Department of Parole, Probation and the criminal court system, to educate them about the substance use disorder and the services that New Directions can provide to support their participants/clients. The Outreach Coordinator also works collaboratively with external treatment providers, and clinicians in house to assist with patients meeting expressed goals. A major attribute of anyone applying for this position, is the ability to foster a relationship grounded in trust as many of prospective patients, may be reluctant to engage in treatment. A commitment to assist patients or prospective patient as they re-connect with their life skills and goals, and a sober support system is a central philosophy of New Directions and all who work here.
Essential Responsibilities: The role of Community Outreach Coordinator position is a key position within our Agency. The goal is to sustain existing business and community partnerships, while working to create new relationships. Lastly, this position will have an important role in working with our excellent clinical and administrative team to help patients who are in need of additional services access them in the community.

To increase the agency’s visibility by representing New Directions at community events, and visiting business stakeholders;
Conduct outreach in-person and virtually with legal, court and community resources, including Probation, Parole, Preventive Services, Detoxes/Rehabs, the Administration for Children’s Services.
Engage new and existing business partners to maintain existing referral sources and keeping an up-to-date linkage agreement with all parties;
Coordinate with clinical and administrative team to provide warm-handoff to those patients who require additional support (including transfer to detoxes/rehabs/ as well as arranging medical appointments for Medication Assisted Treatment such as Vivirtol ™).

Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in substance use disorder and or a proven ability to excel at outreach as evidenced by focusing on Census.
· Demonstrated ability to work with diverse individuals and populations in New York’s urban environments.
· Ability to communicate well verbally and in written form.
· Knowledge of electronic record or ability to learn an electronic record.
Job Type: Full-time
