Figure Skating in Harlem (FSH) is a thriving youth development organization – the first to combine the power of education with the grace and discipline of figure skating to help girls transform their lives and grow in confidence, leadership, and academic achievement. Our award-winning afterschool and summer programs provide girls ages six to 18 from low-income communities with access to innovative education, health and wellness services that help them reach their fullest potential.

Headquartered in Harlem, we also have a satellite site in Detroit, serving girls in that community. JOB DESCRIPTION
Figure Skating in Harlem is pleased to announce a new role, Director of Career and Leadership Initiatives. Through our Pipeline to Power campaign, Figure Skating in Harlem will embark on its latest initiative to support college-aged and early career professionals who have graduated from its programs. Through this experience, FSH will work with alumnae to explore careers, extend their professional networks through mentoring, provide skills development, an online resource library and other key opportunities.
The Director of Career and Leadership Initiatives will develop and lead the new Pipeline to Power programming for alumnae ages 18-30. The director will also work closely with the Deputy Director of Programs to create and implement programs focused on developing leadership skills and programming to understand pathways to success. The director will design and oversee a comprehensive pre-collegiate, in-college and career readiness program model for students and alumnae. They will lead a team that will establish a college-minded culture and will work with members of the program team to ensure that this culture is baked into key activities, curriculum, and instructional design.
Core responsibilities for this role include:

Build a robust college and career engagement program that includes, mentoring, career and skills training, employment and internship opportunities, and other key activities for FSH alumnae ages 18-30.
Develop, recommend, and implement strategies for marketing and promoting alumni activities, programs, and services to encourage involvement and participation.
Supervise planning and implementation of alumni activities, including reunions, council meetings, and other gatherings for this cohort.
Oversee day-to-day activities of the Career and Leadership department, including supervision of staff and managing alumni correspondence and walk-ins.
Collaborate with development colleagues to increase support from alumni
Staff and facilitate the FSH Alumni Power Board, ensuring strong and productive relationships between members and leadership.
Oversee employee engagement, including cultivating relationships with various corporations, organizations, and alumni to provide job and internship opportunities to students.
Oversee College and Career coaches to create a robust career success and internship pipeline for FSH students.
Administer evaluation surveys and feedback sessions to inform program strategy; work with team to support data compilation and reporting.
In collaboration with marketing staff, develop and implement an annual marketing calendar that includes e-newsletters, daily updates to the website and targeted e-blasts, as well as the management of relevant content on social networking platforms.

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS

College degree required, Master’s in education, leadership, or career development preferred

7+ years related job experience in workforce development, education, youth-serving, or community-based organizations; demonstrates passion for youth development, education, career development
Experience with convening workshops and ability to manage or assist with virtual workshops or events.
Commitment to Figure Skating in Harlem’s mission and the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion
Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously and balancing competing priorities
Superior interpersonal skills, with ability to adapt to changing needs
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail with an orientation towards customer service
Desire to learn and grow, team player with a flexible, creative, and analytical approach to problem-solving
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Suite, Amilia, Apricot, Salesforce, Google Suite)
