Buffalo Farm to School Member

The Rural Health Service Corps (RHSC) is an AmeriCorps National Service Program administered by the Rural Health Network of South Central New York. The purpose of the Rural Health Service Corps is to provide meaningful service and learning opportunities for people committed to improving the health and lives of those living in South Central New York State. Rural Health Service Corps members address the broad community health needs of South Central NY, with a focus on health access and education, creating systemic food security, and supporting independent living for the elderly, homebound and people with disabilities. We have numerous positions available throughout New York State, which can all be found at ruralhealthservicecorps.org.

Member Duties : September 2022 – June/July 2023, 30-35 hours/week The PHA Buffalo Farm to School Member will be part of the Buffalo Farm to School Team. They will work with the Farm to School Team, Buffalo City School District’s Department of Child Nutrition Services, cafeteria managers and food service staff, teachers, administrators, students, and community partners to increase capacity for hands-on learning and student engagement. They will have a specific focus on engaging students through taste tests and education about foods representing the district’s diverse student body. The PHA Buffalo Farm to School Member will have a specific focus on supporting the development and growth of the Celebrating Cultural Diversity program, which strives to support BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) food and farm partners and develop and menu culturally appropriate food to the diverse student body. Applicants must have a full COVID vaccination.
