Job Description :
Our client, a men’s, women’s, and kids’ lifestyle apparel brand of luxurious sportswear and tees made of the finest fabrics for comfort and ease, is seeking a Men’s and Women’s Designer to join their team. They are seeking a Men’s and Women’s designer with a clean aesthetic. The Men’s and Women’s Designer will work closely with our client’s Creative Director and lead the design team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$90k
Position Overview:
We are seeking a hands-on Men’s and Women’s Designer who is mid to Senior level. The ideal candidate is to notably contribute to the design and development process of 6 seasonal collections. The Men’s and Women’s Designer has proven design experience in contemporary brands and a minimalist design aesthetic is preferred. The Men’s and Women’s Designer Must have experience working with knitwear.
Responsibilities of the Men’s and Women’s Designer:

Take direction from the Creative Director and work with the team to design and develop Women’s & Men’s Collections (all classifications)
Identify trends, research, and shop the market, create design boards and color stories to present each season
Produce accurate flat sketches and complete design packages that clearly propose proportion, detail fit, color/treatment/print placements, and design intention
Communicate thorough design intent at pass-off with tech
Execute updates to design packages, BOMs, and digital boards throughout the development process
Create detailed artwork pitch sheets for Freelance Graphic Designers
Source raw materials o Request yarns and knit downs from knitting partners
Request new washes, dye & print techniques from Peruvian factories
Create detailed development pitch sheets for any fabric treatments researched internally
Collaborate with Product Development to provide feedback on treatment/color/print development
Work with the Patternmaker on in-house developments
Attend and participate in proto and SMS fittings
Provide support as needed on the development of special projects such as capsule collections, etc.
Collaborate with the team to execute sales-led market strategies and feedback
Adhere to the design time and action calendar
Align with team to recap meeting notes and create a plan of execution on action points
Partner with the Design Director to create goals and objectives of the Freelance Assistant Designer and oversee the Assistant Freelance Designer’s daily tasks and monitor performance
Assist with seasonal photo shoots on a need basis

Qualifications of the Men’s and Women’s Designer:

6+ years of experience in a relevant field
Must have knowledge of knitwear design and yarn technology
Ability to work in a collaborative team-oriented environment
Ability to present new techniques in printing, dyeing, and any other areas of design to bring newness to collections
Experienced in sourcing fine materials
Ability to create detailed sketches in Illustrator, detail drawings, spec garments, and create artworks (as necessary)
Acute attention to detail. Must be very organized and diligent
Comprehensive understanding of fit and construction
Ability to multitask and capable of independently prioritizing workload
Quick learner, takes direction well and understands urgency

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Fashion or Apparel Design
