Job Description :
This position is responsible to drive a University vehicle to campus sites daily. Provides a safe, accurate and efficient delivery/pick up routine/schedule that is detail oriented. Establishes a regular route coordinating with staff and faculty. Ensures security and confidentiality of transported items. Maintains schedule, changing as needed for emergencies and special requests.Location Utica, NY Application Deadline 07/08/2022 *Full consideration by*: 07/08/2022 Open Until Filled No Major Responsibilities
Responsible to pick up, sort, load vehicle for efficient transport and delivery of materials to and from locations as directed and adapt route as needed on just cause basis. May include, but not limited to: intra campus mail/packages, classroom and teaching materials/supplies/equipment, equipment, confidential testing materials, University and student records, print shop orders, office supplies, custodial supplies, cash/credit cards/keys hand delivered. Occasionally obtain signatures for confidential/secure materials.
Follows strict security procedures regarding University building access, security/alarm codes and confidential/secure materials.
Completes daily route in a safe and timely manner.
Sorts and maintains a record of incoming UPS, Fed-Ex, DHL, USPS and other vendor deliveries; delivers to appropriate staff/department/school.
Notifies facilities of any vehicle trouble or maintenance needed. Regularly fuel, check oil and wash vehicle.
Assists with records retention/destruction.
Coordinates with securities and facilities departments on various jobs as needed, including but not limited to:
Moving furniture
Picking up surplus items
Helping security and facilities departments as needed
Maintains a commitment to quality customer service
GENERAL
Participate and engage in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives and programs, including but not limited to serving on DEI committees, serving as a diversity advocate or community liaison for a job search, advising a club, facilitating DEI-related training, and engagement in institutional cultural and celebratory events and programming
Works with supervisor to develop specific goals that support Utica Universitys operational plans. This is done at least annually through the annual performance evaluation process, however review of goals will occur throughout the year.
Responsible for working with supervisor and other team members to achieve successful results on all established individual and departmental goals and key performance indicators.
May perform other related duties as assigned.
Driving ResponsibilitiesThis position requires the ability to drive a campus vehicle. Must maintain a clean driving record as defined by University insurance carrier guidelines. Motor vehicle record will be monitored regularly using NYS License Event Notification Service or License Monitor, Inc. for out of state licenses.Travel Supervises N/A Education & Experience Qualifications
Mail delivery experience preferred
Two years of driving experience with a good driving record
Minimum Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of traffic rules and regulations, including defensive driving skills.
Ability to drive in a courteous and professional manner at all times.
Ability to lift and carry heavy supplies and equipment weighing up to 75 lbs.
Ability to work in varying degrees of weather conditions.
Ability to follow pickup and delivery instructions.
Ability to recommend effective routing for the purpose of maintaining efficient delivery runs.
Ability to attend to detail and follow through to completion.
Ability to be a self-starter and work independently as well as under the direction of others.
Ability to evaluate situations for the purpose of taking appropriate action.
Ability to use a computer and various programs.
Knowledge of proper packaging and shipping methods.
Ability to follow safety procedures and safe-work practices at all times.
Willingness to learn and apply new skills to accommodate a changing work environment.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with University staff.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to adhere to University policies and procedures.
Strong organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Must have excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills.
Must be able to work flexible hours if necessary
