Business Development Manager – Electric Products
Seeking goal-oriented Business Development Manager with proven results in the electric market.
Located in Franklin Park, IL a few minutes northwest of Chicago, Vapor Power International, LLC is an industry leader in the design and manufacturing of steam generators and thermal fluid heaters. Custom engineered-to- order, their products serve a broad range of markets from food processing to petrochemical applications. Founded in the early 1900’s Vapor Power has grown from a small supplier of heating products for the railroad industry to one of the most regarded suppliers of specialty equipment for steam generation and process heating.
Located in Morristown, TN 45 minutes northeast of Knoxville, Precision Boilers manufactures industry-leading electric and fuel-fired hot water boilers and steam generators plus a wide range of accessories such as deaerators and blowdown tanks. Founded in 1946, Precision Boilers’ first product was the sump pump. Over the years the company has continued to grow and add new products including the industry recognized High Voltage Jet (HVJ) Electrode Boiler. As a leading employer in the Morristown area, the company maintains a state-of-the-art facility with a well-trained and stable workforce. Precision Boilers is a division of Vapor Power.
This position reports to the Vice President of Sales & Marketing.
The Role
The Manager-Business Development Electric Products is a key role within the Vapor Power organization that will drive growth for our strategic electric products. This role will work both independently of and in tandem with our primary sales organization to penetrate new and existing markets, identify large and complex opportunities, and work with the balance of the organization to close and execute key projects for our electric products. This role will be instrumental in expanding the pipeline of opportunities for these projects/products through aggressive market and customer research and prospecting.
Vapor Power is uniquely positioned to realize significant growth in this sector because of strong brand recognition for its electric products, favorable market forces related to sustainability and carbon reduction efforts. This position will be key in leveraging these conditions to drive growth.
Your Responsibilities
Lead the business development process for key strategic electric products within the Vapor Power product portfolio.

Establish market development plans for target markets and customers for electric products.
Manage the sales process from idea/lead generation through to project award on major select projects and work with core sales organization on other projects to deliver sustained and significant medium to long-term growth.
Lead and be responsible for the negotiation of sales contracts, partnership agreements and licensing arrangements.
Creating accurate business cases and presentations to senior management.
Identification, establishment and development of suitable external partner relationships globally and negotiation of collaboration, license or other sales agreements
Managing internal relationships which can involve, operations, engineering, supply chain, and legal to deliver the commercial opportunity.
Scouting for future opportunities for internal development, partnerships or acquisitions.
Working collaboratively with Marketing and Engineering to position products uniquely in the competitive space to create growth for Electric products

Requirements for The Role

Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or scientific field or strong related experience.
At least five (5) years of previous commercial / business development experience with technical/capital/engineered-to-order products
Deep knowledge in the energy product and market space preferred.
Proven track record of delivering complex programs/initiatives from concept through execution.
System savvy: Strong capabilities in Excel, PowerPoint.
Strategic business development practitioner, well-versed in the theory and tools of strategic selling as well as the practical implementation.
Comfortable being a road warrior to gain new business in electrics.
