Job Description :
The Department of Genetics and Development is looking for a successful candidate to fulfill a leadership role in the general management of the laboratory of Dr. Kristin Baldwin. They will be responsible for recognizing the needs for the smooth operation of the laboratory, including organizing general maintenance, distribution of shared responsibilities, and the occasional troubleshooting.
Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

Assume responsibility for the finance aspect of maintaining and ordering laboratory supplies and reagents.
Generate and maintain iPSC lines, reprogramming, differentiation experiments, and gene editing, as required by an assigned research project.
They will be responsible for the basic training of newly joining graduate students and post-docs.
Maintenance of multiple iPSC lines, reprogramming, and gene editing, as required by an assigned research project. Molecular biology and mouse husbandry.
Perform general management for the laboratory, including ordering and managing junior lab members.
Regularly perform differentiation experiments in various cellular systems, but with an emphasis on iPSC to neuron/fibroblast to neuron differentiation of cardiovascular differentiation.
Assist PI in maintaining records of experiment results and data management and communicate lab management issues to the team.
The candidate will be expected to exercise independent judgment based on multiple sources of information when conducting experiments, organizing the day-to-day running of the lab, and troubleshooting.
They will be expected to have a high degree of initiative for problem-solving and the ability to establish new solutions related to the functioning of the lab.

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum requirement of Bachelor’s degree in a related research field (preferred biology, molecular/cell biology, developmental biology, genetics, cell biology, or neurobiology).
Experience with cell culture, esp. human stem cells, and familiarity with related techniques, such as reprogramming, validation, and neuronal differentiation protocol(s). Familiarity with standard molecular biology techniques, and fluorescent microscopy. Outstanding organizational and management skills. Must be familiar with Molecular and cell biology, immunostaining, basic microscopy, and pluripotent stem cell culture.

Preferred Requirements:

A Master’s degree is preferred.
Ideally, 4 years of experience working in a research lab with a similar profile but exceptional candidates with fewer years of strong relevant experience will also be considered. Candidates with more years of research experience and/or research experience more closely aligned with the profile of the lab are preferred.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $57,000.00 – $67,000.00 per year
